Crystal Reports Version Numbers by Product and Service Pack

I recently had a post on my forum about how to figure out which version number correlates to which service pack in Crystal Reports. I thought that this was a pretty good question, so I installed all service packs and wrote down the exact version numbers that relate to each one.

Here is the list of the exact version numbers for the current releases of Crystal Reports and the service packs that can be installed for it. To find which version you currently have on your compter, click the Help > About menu options. The version number is listed in the top left corner.

Crystal Reports 2008
Original 12.0.0.549
Service Pack 0 12.0.0.683
Fix Pack 1 12.0.0.796
Fix Pack 2 12.0.0.840
Service Pack 1 12.0.0.892
Fix Pack 1.1 12.1.1.957
Fix Pack 1.2 12.1.2.996
Crystal Reports XI (Release 1)
Original 11.0.0.895
SP 3 11.0.0.2269
SP 4 11.0.0.2495
Crystal Reports XI (Release 2)
Original 11.5.0.313
SP 1 11.5.3.417
SP 2 11.5.8.826
SP 3 11.5.9.1076
SP 4 11.5.10.1263
SP 5 11.5.11.1470

Visual Studio .NET Versions

NOTE: For Visual Studio .NET, you get different version numbers depending upon whether you look at the crqe32.dll file (under the Common folder) or whether you look in the GAC. Plus, when you look in the GAC, you get the version number that will appear in the .net references files, but when you right-click and choose properties, you get the actual version number (I put this in parentheses). Very confusing indeed! But hopefully this will help you sort things out in your apps.

Crystal Reports .NET 2005
C:\Windows\assembly
GAC 10.2.3600.0 (10.2.50712.0)
GAC after ?? 10.2.3600.0 (10.2.51014.0)
GAC after SP1 10.2.3600.0 (10.2.52001.1823)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\2.7\bin
Original 10.2.0.1222
Crystal Reports Basic 2008 (CR.NET 2008)
C:\Windows\assembly
GAC after SP1 10.5.3700.0 (10.5.1.2285)
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\2.8\bin
Original 10.5.0.1943
SP 1 10.5.1.2285

Update: I found a link to the official SAP versioning table

    Hi
The articles/blogs of you folks are very useful to me. I am the Competency Lead of Business Objects at Satyam computer services.
It will be helpful if one of u can share your email address with me, so that I can interact with you people whenever I face a problem

Thank you very much for this information, it was extremely useful. I would think that Business Objects should have this information somewhere on their website or in the Help > About, but they don’t.

    Hi,
How to we get the version of Crystal report through command line. Actually I have a script that performs a task. The script needs to verify the crystal report version before the required task.

    Thanks in advance

Much of this information is in the core documentation — but only for product releases and major service packs.

The information is in the documentation under the heading ‘Crystal Reports Versions’. It moves around a little depending upon the version of the help that you have. Pre-2008 it was under SDK Fundamentals > System Setup > What Needs to be Installed.

This list is helpful. Is there an updated one with the current service pack numbers?
(CRXIR2-SP6 and CR2K-SP2 and fix packs up through 1.7)
